This tutorial will show you how.<br \/>\nFor this tutorial you will need: FTP login details, FTP client (FileZilla or similar).<br \/>\n<strong>1.<\/strong> Download the <strong>latest<\/strong> WordPress installation (usually at <a title=\"latest install\" href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/latest.zip\">latest install<\/a>) and extract it somewhere on your desktop (you\u2019ll end up with <strong>wordpress<\/strong> folder)<br \/>\n<strong>2.<\/strong> Deactivate plugins from Dashboard. Go to <strong>Plugins<\/strong>, check all plugins (check-box in front of Plugin), go to <strong>Bulk Actions<\/strong>, click on drop-down menu, click <strong>Deactivate<\/strong> and <strong>Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-449\" src=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/1-300x77.gif\" alt=\"1\" width=\"300\" height=\"77\" srcset=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/1-300x77.gif 300w, https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/1-1024x264.gif 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong> Through your FTP client (preferably FileZilla or so) go to your WP directory and delete <strong>wp-includes<\/strong> and <strong>wp-admin<\/strong> directories (<strong>CTRL select<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>right click<\/strong> and <strong>Delete<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/2.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-450\" src=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/2-300x158.gif\" alt=\"2\" width=\"300\" height=\"158\" srcset=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/2-300x158.gif 300w, https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/2-1024x541.gif 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong> Upload<strong> wp-includes<\/strong> and <strong>wp-admin<\/strong> directories from <strong>new wordpress<\/strong> install folder (the one we extracted in step 1) to dir where we previously deleted them (<strong>CTRL select<\/strong> them in left pane -&gt; <strong>right click<\/strong> and <strong>Upload<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/3.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-451\" src=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/3-300x142.gif\" alt=\"3\" width=\"300\" height=\"142\" srcset=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/3-300x142.gif 300w, https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/3-1024x488.gif 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> Now enter <strong>wp-content<\/strong> dir (both source and target) and <strong>copy\/overwrite everything<\/strong> from your new wordpress folder to your old directory (do <strong>not<\/strong> delete\/copy <strong>whole<\/strong> dir just files inside!)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/4.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-452\" src=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/4-300x158.gif\" alt=\"4\" width=\"300\" height=\"158\" srcset=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/4-300x158.gif 300w, https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/4-1024x541.gif 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>6.<\/strong> Upload and overwrite all the rest <strong>files<\/strong> from new wordpress to old dir (no need to worry, it won\u2019t overwrite your <strong>wp-config.php<\/strong> file)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/5.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-453\" src=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/5-300x158.gif\" alt=\"5\" width=\"300\" height=\"158\" srcset=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/5-300x158.gif 300w, https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/5-1024x542.gif 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>7.<\/strong> When you try to login now WordPress will remind you that it needs to update Database.
