Backup allows you to download compressed copy of your whole site or some of its parts. Whatever you find useful. You can download, for example, your <strong>home directory<\/strong>, <strong>e-mail configurations<\/strong>, <strong>databases<\/strong> and so on. This way you can restore state and settings of your whole website from a certain point of time.<\/p>\n<p>This is a step-by-step guide on how to generate and download full backup of your site!<br \/>\nFull backup includes your<strong> home directory<\/strong>, <strong>databases<\/strong>, <strong>email forwarders<\/strong>, and <strong>filters<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<strong>Note: You cannot restore full backups through your cPanel interface!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Login<\/strong> into your cPanel account. You need to click on &#8220;<strong>Backups<\/strong>&#8220;. Here you can select backup option that suits your needs best. Then enter your e-mail address. Next step is to click on \u201c<strong>generate backup<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Screenshot_33.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-297\" src=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Screenshot_33-300x168.png\" alt=\"Screenshot_3\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Screenshot_33-300x168.png 300w, https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Screenshot_33.png 762w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4:<\/strong> As soon as generating full backup is done you will receive confirmation e-mail which informs you that generating full backup of your website is done.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5:<\/strong> Go to your cPanel home page. Select &#8220;<strong>Backups<\/strong>&#8220;, located under &#8220;<strong>Files<\/strong>&#8221;\u00a0box. Under \u201c<strong>Backups Available for Download<\/strong>\u201d, select a backup file that you want to save on your computer. Click \u201c<strong>Save file<\/strong>\u201d and download will begin.<\/p>\n<p>When it finish you should be able to see file similar to this &#8220;<strong>backup-date of creation_name of account.tar.gz<\/strong>&#8221; in your website root directory. You can download it locally (to have backup in case of server hardware failure) or you could leave it there if you want to <strong>restore <\/strong>now (in this case it will be <strong>much faster<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<h3>Restore<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Note: For this portion of tutorial you need to have WHM access!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1a:<\/strong> In case you downloaded backup file locally and deleted it from server now you need to <strong>upload it via FTP (or SSH)<\/strong> because it\u00a0must be in one of these directories on the server: \/<strong>home<\/strong>, \/<strong>home2<\/strong>, \/<strong>home3<\/strong>, \/<strong>root<\/strong>, \/<strong>usr<\/strong>, \/<strong>usr\/home<\/strong>, \/<strong>web<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1b:<\/strong> In case you left backup file on server you need to navigate to\u00a0your <strong>website root directory<\/strong>\u00a0and transfer it to one of above mentioned directories. For example:<\/p>\n<p><strong># cp backup-7.15.2014_17-51-45_zombi110.tar.gz\u00a0\/home<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Your backup file will be stored now in \/<strong>home!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> Login into <strong>WHM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> Navigate to <strong>Backup<\/strong> -&gt;\u00a0<strong>Restore a Full Backup\/cpmove File<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/16.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-312\" src=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/16-300x77.jpg\" alt=\"1\" width=\"300\" height=\"77\" srcset=\"https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/16-300x77.jpg 300w, https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/16-1024x265.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/servikus.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/16.jpg 1802w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4:\u00a0<\/strong>Check if your <strong>backup file<\/strong> is visible at the bottom of this page and enter the <strong>name of account<\/strong> you wish to restore.
